Assignment #1

Voting Campaign

This assignment was meaningful as it highlights the idea of what Media Scholars do. As a Media Scholar, it is my job to influence others in a positive way. By getting the word out about voting, more people will look into it and increase their chances of actually going to the polls.

Assignment #2

The idea behind this assignment was to make people realize how important their vote is. Since I am a part of Gen Z, a population which will be voting for the first time ever, my vote will be very influential in uncovering the beliefs of my generation. Gen Z covers about 10% of the eligible voters which means we could have a very significant impact on the election.

Why is Gen Z a Unique Voting Population?

Gen Z voters are unique because we are the youngest ones heading to the polls. We are 7%-10% of the voting populating in 2020. This is big enough to make a significant impact on the election. While this is still not a large percentage, Gen Z is growing. Gen Z will grow to be one of the biggest influencers in the coming few elections. Additionally, Gen Z is the most diverse group of people ever. There are many races and backgrounds. All of us were impacted greatly by COVID-19 because a majority of us are in school or just getting into the work force. I think getting some of Gen Z to the polls will be a problem because teens and young adults are trending on becoming lazier and lazier as technologies improve. I will be voting myself because I believe it is my duty. I know that my vote will most likely not matter because Maryland has always predominantly been a blue state and will most likely stay that way. My vote, either blue, red, or independent will just add to the numbers of an almost certain outcome. If I can feel this way, so can many others. Those other people may feel it enough to simply not vote. I believe the best way to get someone to vote is to have their side lose and not get their way. The people who are motivated to vote are those who want change. They are the people who see a problem with our current system and want to make a difference, or really support our current system and want to keep it that way.
