My name is Evan Demos. I am a Media Scholar at the University of Maryland. I plan to major in Mechanical Engineering. I want Media Scholars to give me a broader picture of the world so I can use my knowledge to realize the potential impacts, both good and bad, of my work in real life. I grew up near Bel Air, Maryland and attended the Science and Mathematics Academy at Aberdeen High School. My unique hands-on experiences led me to pursuing a career in mechanical engineering. After being accepted into Scholars at the University of Maryland, I selected the Media, Self and Society program to broaden my perspective on society and understand views beyond my own. Throughout my experience so far, I have been able to talk with editors from various news stations to see how they do their job and have as little bias as possible. These experiences better me as a student as they give me a vision into how the media plays a daily role in society.
